TCP Assembles New Strategy Team to Facilitate National Expansion

February 11, 2022

The Confess Project continues to be the leading mental health movement for Black boys and men in the U.S. Now, with headquarters relocating to Atlanta, a new strategy team will help usher TCP into its next phase.

The team consists of Brand Strategist Cordey Lash, Chief Financial Officer Deron Hamilton, PR and Communication Strategist Lamar Davis, and Marketing Advisor Julian White who collectively have over 80+ years of experience in their fields. With the goal of increasing TCP's impact, they’ll provide guidance and leadership on relocation, brand positioning, donor cultivation, capital campaigns, partnership opportunities, and more.

“It’s a dream team,” says Donovan Shavers, Interim Board Vice President. “I’m really excited for TCP to scale."

Many large nonprofits operate with local chapters under a national umbrella. For founder and Chief Visionary Officer Lorenzo Lewis, creating a strategy team is the first step towards implementing this proven model as TCP expands and grows into a national organization. Eventually, the team will be responsible for overseeing the creation of local affiliates in cities like Boston, Oakland, Philadelphia, and Charlotte.

The timing has never been more right, as the pandemic continues to accelerate a mental health crisis for communities of color. The strategy team, who hail from the communities impacted and bring to the work their own lived experiences, will ensure TCP's healing messages reach those who need it most.

“We’re America’s first mental health barbershop movement, and with that comes a responsibility to have the best of the best,” says Lewis, who handpicked the team from his professional and personal networks. “They’re here to ensure that every Black boy and man, as well as their families, is seen and heard.”
